Role Overview
Qualcomm India Private Limited is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, analysis, troubleshooting, and validation of electro-mechanical systems and packaging. The role contributes to next-generation products and digital transformation efforts through close collaboration with engineering teams across functions.
The position focuses on hands-on mechanical design, 3D CAD modeling, and product development for mobile handset, IoT, and open test platform products. You will partner with hardware and product stakeholders, as well as external vendors, to deliver dependable designs that satisfy performance, cost, and schedule goals.
What You Will Do
- Create and refine mechanical designs for electro-mechanical packaging and form-factor products.
- Build solid and surface models in 3D CAD tools such as Creo, using top-down modeling methods.
- Support fixture design, open test platform development, and testing procedures for volume testing.
- Work with internal cross-functional teams and vendors to execute complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Define design constraints and integrate mechanical requirements with board and FPC layout needs.
- Participate in design reviews, present progress updates, and maintain clear technical documentation.
- Apply engineering analysis to improve design quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Help manage schedules, coordinate deliverables, and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
- At least 3 years of experience using solid and surface modeling tools, including Creo, with top-down modeling exposure.
- Experience with electro-mechanical packaging for form-factor designs, open test platforms, fixture design, and testing workflows for volume testing.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Experience working with plastic injection molded parts, die cast components, sheet metal, and machined parts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with solid technical documentation ability.
Preferred Experience
- Practical mechanical design experience using 3D CAD tools and top-down solid modeling techniques.
- Ability to develop designs from strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and analysis.
- Experience defining and managing Mech EMN files and transferring data into CAD for board and FPC layout integration.
- Exposure to thermal and structural analysis for high-density electronic packaging.
- Familiarity with PDM systems for BOM and project tracking, preferably Agile.
- Ability to choose and integrate mechanical components within strict packaging and form-factor limits.
- Experience collaborating with RF, Baseband, Thermal, Analysis, and Product Management teams.
- Knowledge of product constraints such as vibration, shock, antenna performance, industrial design, safety, human factors, and cost.
- Understanding of design, fabrication, and procurement for CNC, injection molded, die cast, and stamped metal parts.
- Experience preparing and presenting design reviews to diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to share status updates, presentations, and design documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
- Comfort working under aggressive schedules in a fast-moving development environment.
Education
Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering is required.
