Job description

About the company

This is a Sydney boutique design and construction studio based in Marrickville. The practice works across high-end residential projects as well as retail fitouts, including luxury jewellery stores, cosmetic concession spaces, cafés, and restaurants. The team is compact, collaborative, and combines creative thinking with strong technical delivery to turn concepts into built spaces.

About the role

The studio is looking for a capable interior designer to join the team and work alongside the Senior Designer and Design Director. The role involves preparing technical documentation, supporting 3D modelling and visualisation, and helping source materials and finishes. It is also structured to provide room for growth, with scope to take ownership of selected parts of projects in addition to providing support.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with the Design Director and wider team to develop design concepts.
  • Create 2D and 3D documentation in Vectorworks across different project stages, including plan development, functional layouts, DA, CDC, and CC packages for construction.
  • Develop 3D views and presentation imagery using Enscape.
  • Compile material and finish schedules, as well as sample boards.
  • Support sourcing of finishes and product materials.
  • Assist with site inspections, measurements, and coordination with contractors.
  • Prepare client presentations and keep documentation, filing, and records well organised throughout the project lifecycle.

Skills and experience

The ideal candidate will have relevant tertiary training in interior design or architecture, along with proven professional experience in a similar role within Australia. Strong space planning ability, a clear visual and verbal design communication style, and a solid understanding of documentation standards are important. The position also calls for accuracy in joinery and finish detailing, confidence with creative software, and the ability to manage several deadlines in a busy environment. An interest in Australian construction standards and regulations is also valued.

Application requirements

Applicants should submit both a resume and a portfolio of work. This role is not appropriate for recent graduates or candidates still completing their studies. Only Australian permanent residents with full working rights and post-graduate experience in Australia will be considered.
