The role
This position sits within the Technology Operations function and focuses on building, improving, and supporting dependable enterprise network infrastructure across the club’s environment. The role covers Cisco Software Defined Access (SDA), enterprise wireless, security technologies, and Azure networking, while also contributing to large operational activities and transformation work. You will act as a dependable technical specialist, helping to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing connectivity for colleagues and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities
You will contribute to the design, implementation, support, and continuous improvement of enterprise network services, including wired, wireless, cloud, and security-related components.
Day-to-day duties include:
- Working with the Technology Operations team to build and refine wired and wireless enterprise networks using Cisco SDA, Catalyst Center, ISE, and Meraki Dashboard.
- Providing advanced second- and third-line support across routing, switching, wireless, firewall, and identity systems to keep services secure and stable.
- Managing complex network changes, including upgrades, infrastructure refreshes, and transformation initiatives, with clear implementation and rollback planning.
- Improving wireless performance in dense environments through radio-frequency optimisation, tuning, and capacity planning.
- Partnering with security teams to support audits, fix vulnerabilities, and strengthen access controls across the network.
- Assisting with Azure networking and hybrid connectivity, including VNets, VPN gateways, NSGs, and related services.
- Maintaining accurate technical documentation, standards, and procedures to support operational improvement.
- Supporting matchdays and events through a rota that includes both on-site and remote cover.
Requirements
The role calls for a strong enterprise network engineer with advanced technical depth and a collaborative working style.
- Substantial hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering within busy, complex organisations.
- CCNP-level understanding of routing and switching, including OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP, and QoS.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco SDA, Catalyst Center, and enterprise wireless environments, including Cisco 9800 controllers and Catalyst access points.
- Practical experience with multi-vendor security platforms such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Cisco firewalls.
- Experience with Cisco ISE and secure wired/wireless authentication, including 802.1X, RADIUS/TACACS+, guest access, and posture checks.
- Working knowledge of Azure networking and hybrid connectivity principles.
- Strong troubleshooting ability across LAN, WAN, WLAN, and security technologies.
- A proactive, team-oriented approach with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders and colleagues.
