Role overview
Amazon is hiring an Operations Manager for Amazon Logistics (AMZL), a leadership position focused on keeping delivery operations running smoothly in a fast-paced environment. The role is suited to someone who is highly motivated, customer-focused, and comfortable solving complex operational challenges while driving continuous improvement.
In this position, you will help ensure packages move through the network efficiently and reach customers on time. You will lead teams, improve processes, and support Amazon’s commitment to safe, reliable, and effective delivery operations.
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day logistics activity, strengthening operational performance, maintaining safety and compliance, and leading teams so that customer expectations are consistently met.
You will supervise a team of Shift Managers and their direct reports, and report to the Site Lead at the Delivery Station.
This opportunity is being shared for upcoming operational leadership openings. The hiring locations mentioned are Bella Vista, Chullora, and Eastern Creek Delivery Stations.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop Shift Managers along with the team members who report to them.
- Step in for the Site Lead when required and help maintain continuity in station operations.
- Assess operational forecasts and translate them into productivity needs for the delivery station.
- Support safety initiatives so that associates and delivery service providers work in a secure environment.
- Spot opportunities for improvement and drive Lean-based process changes.
- Track shift results against business goals and implement corrective actions to improve operating performance.
- Plan manpower requirements and oversee shift schedules, including hours booking and holiday coordination handled by direct reports.
What a day may look like
As a Delivery Station leader, you will work to make delivery workflows faster, more accurate, and more cost-efficient. Together with your peers, you will help ensure the station operates effectively and that customer promises are met.
About the team
Amazon Logistics manages last-mile delivery in collaboration with third-party distribution partners. The organization uses innovation and continuous improvement to move millions of physical products to customers while keeping the delivery experience smooth and dependable.
The operation has two major parts: under-the-roof teams that prepare products for dispatch, and on-the-road teams that carry out safe and timely delivery to customers.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification. The job also requires flexibility to work across different shifts and schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
Candidates should bring at least 2 years of experience in managing employees and performance, as well as 2 years of exposure to performance metrics, process improvement, or Lean methods. Experience in hiring and developing diverse teams, and in building high-performing teams, is also required.
Preferred experience
Additional value will be given to candidates with exposure to process improvement methods such as Lean Six Sigma or Kaizen, strong problem-solving ability, a track record of delivering results, and experience working with a contingent workforce.
