Job Description

We are seeking a Porter for our Building Services department. This permanent, full-time position is located at 145 Richmond Road and 975 Gladstone Avenue in Ottawa, ON. The role operates on-site with a work model of 37.5 hours per week, involving various shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends). This is a future opportunity for motivated individuals looking to advance into skilled trade positions within the company.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning duties such as sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, mopping, polishing floors, cleaning windows, and managing waste and recycling.
• Ensure all areas of the building, including administrative offices, meeting rooms, common spaces, cafeterias, locker rooms, and washrooms, are kept clean and tidy.
• Transport materials, including palletized goods, within production areas using equipment like carts, pallet jacks, mobile hydraulic lifts, and forklifts.
• Replenish materials for various departments and move finished products to their designated locations.
• Adapt to changing daily tasks based on production needs and facility traffic.
• Prepare meeting rooms and areas designated for client visits.
• Undertake other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Must be fluent in English, including speaking, reading, and writing.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Secret (Level II) clearance.
• Must be available to work all shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
• Must meet the physical demands of the role, including continuous standing and walking for 95% of the shift, bending, lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling, lifting up to 50lbs regularly, and climbing ladders.
• Must be comfortable working in a moderately to loudly noisy environment (ear protection will be provided).
• Possess strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate effective communication, teamwork, and collaboration abilities.
• Exhibit problem-solving skills.
• Maintain a growth mindset and adaptability.
• Be reliable and punctual.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude is advantageous.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing setting is beneficial.
• Prior experience operating carts, pallet jacks, mobile hydraulic lifts, or forklifts is a plus.
