Job description

Role overview

We are hiring a Quality Manager in Ireland for a partner organisation working on advanced electrolysis and hydrogen infrastructure projects in the clean energy sector. This role is central to maintaining strong quality standards across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, and final handover. It blends strategic leadership with direct execution, with a focus on reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.

The position involves close coordination with suppliers and third-party inspectors across Europe, supporting strict technical and regulatory requirements. It is suited to a detail-focused leader who can build dependable quality frameworks in a fast-changing renewable energy environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct quality activities through every phase of the project lifecycle, from design and procurement to fabrication, construction, commissioning, and delivery.
  • Create, roll out, and refine quality systems, procedures, and project-specific quality plans.
  • Set up and oversee quality teams, inspectors, and external resources supporting suppliers and fabrication partners.
  • Prepare inspection and test plans, define hold points, and ensure quality controls are followed in manufacturing and construction work.
  • Handle non-conformance cases, including investigation of root causes and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work with Supply Chain teams to manage supplier qualification, audits, and performance reviews.
  • Check and approve technical records such as drawings, weld maps, material lists, and manufacturing documentation for compliance.
  • Draft quality requirements for supplier contracts and support PED 2014/68/EU conformity assessments and EU declarations of conformity.
  • Lead factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing, and make sure punch-list issues are resolved before shipment.
  • Maintain end-of-manufacturing record books and ensure adherence to relevant codes and regulatory obligations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, Welding, Industrial Engineering, or another related technical discipline.
  • At least 10 years of experience in quality-focused roles within industrial equipment, fabrication, manufacturing, or large engineering projects.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a Quality Manager role or an equivalent leadership position.
  • Strong background in quality systems, supplier quality, inspections, and management of third-party quality resources.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering quality assurance across several simultaneous projects, ideally in Europe.
  • Knowledge of industrial manufacturing settings, including welded assemblies, pressure equipment, and complex technical systems.
  • Good working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 3834-2, and PED 2014/68/EU; exposure to ASME, EN, ATEX, or similar frameworks is an advantage.
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers, fabricators, and engineering teams in international, cross-functional environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Fluent English is required; German or Spanish would be a bonus.
  • Must be willing to travel 40% to 60% across European project and fabrication sites.

Benefits

  • Chance to contribute to major clean energy and hydrogen infrastructure programmes.
  • Competitive pay package based on experience and market benchmarks.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, insurance, and wellbeing support.
  • Equity participation and long-term incentive opportunities, subject to eligibility.
  • Annual bonus plus additional performance-linked rewards.
  • Flexible working arrangements with extensive travel across Europe.
  • Learning and development opportunities in advanced engineering and quality management.
  • Inclusive, purpose-driven environment centred on sustainability and innovation.
