Role overview
This position focuses on analysing portfolio companies deeply, identifying where value can be created, and helping turn those insights into practical action. The role also involves working with senior stakeholders, shaping strategic decisions, and supporting broader portfolio-wide initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed strategic and operational reviews of portfolio businesses, covering financial performance, business direction, competitive position, operating efficiency, market trends, and industry attractiveness.
- Spot, assess, and help implement value creation initiatives such as strategic repositioning, transformation programmes, performance improvement, balance sheet optimisation, restructuring, and corporate reorganisation.
- Build, review, and challenge strong valuation and financial models using methods such as SOTP, DCF, DDM, trading comparables, precedent transactions, and scenario/sensitivity analysis.
- Track portfolio performance and key value drivers, including financial strength, competitive standing, emerging risks, and KPI trends.
- Convert business and operational insights into clear priorities and quantify the financial impact of those priorities on valuation and long-term value.
- Partner with stakeholders, senior leaders, and board members to support strategic discussions, decision-making, and accountability for execution.
- Contribute to portfolio-wide work by identifying synergies, sharing best practices, and supporting organic, inorganic, and partnership growth opportunities.
- Take ownership of workstreams from issue framing and analysis through alignment, recommendation development, and follow-through on execution.
- Coach and support junior colleagues, helping strengthen team capability and development.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or a closely related discipline, backed by strong academic results.
- Between 5 and 8 years of experience in a leading management consulting firm, investment bank, private equity, corporate finance, M&A, accounting, or a similar environment.
- A solid history of performing strategic analysis, financial modelling, valuation work, and structured problem-solving.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and influencing decisions.
- Ability to turn analysis into practical recommendations that can be executed effectively.
- Comfort handling several priorities at once in a fast-moving, high-performance setting.
- Capacity to work with a high degree of independence and ownership.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly and concisely.
- Familiarity with financial data tools such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, and FactSet.
- Practical AI fluency, including use of tools like ChatGPT and Copilot for research, synthesis, analysis, and productivity support.
