Job description

Role overview

Compass International School Doha is looking for a Primary Class Teacher to join its team in Doha, Qatar. The school delivers a premium British education across three campuses and serves both expatriate and Qatari families. The wider school environment is known for its supportive community, international outlook, and student-centered approach.

The school operates under Nord Anglia Education and is part of a global network of international schools focused on high standards, personalised learning, and strong professional growth.

About the school

Compass International School Doha was founded in 2006. Its Al Themaid and Madinat Khalifa campuses teach students from Early Years through Secondary, while Gharaffa is a dedicated Primary campus for children aged 3 to 11. The school follows a tailored British curriculum across all campuses. Secondary learners can choose from IGCSE, AS and A Level courses, and the school also offers the IB Diploma Programme for Years 12 and 13.

The school holds Qatar National Schools Accreditation and is affiliated with BSME, COBIS and AoBSO. Doha offers a warm climate throughout the year and strong global travel links, making it a popular base for expatriate professionals.

What the role involves

You will be expected to set ambitious expectations for pupils, plan learning experiences that align with the Primary curriculum, and build a classroom culture where children are encouraged to achieve highly. A respectful, engaging environment should be created through discussion, questioning and positive interaction.

The role also includes understanding the broader responsibilities of the post such as the job purpose, reporting lines, key working relationships, core results areas and performance measures, as outlined in the detailed role description.

What they are looking for

The ideal candidate will adapt quickly to a busy international school setting, bring creativity and reflection to their teaching, and take ownership of professional growth. You should be comfortable working collaboratively, sharing specialist expertise, and communicating confidently with parents, students and colleagues from varied backgrounds.

Applicants must also meet Qatar visa requirements, which include either a bachelor’s degree in education or a degree together with PGCE/QTS, obtained through in-person study at a physical institution rather than online.

Experience and qualifications

Essential qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Primary Education and a recognised teaching qualification such as QTS or PGCE/PGDE.

Preferred experience includes around two years of teaching, experience across different year groups, familiarity with the English National Curriculum, strong classroom practice, effective behaviour management, and prior work in international schools.

Personal qualities

Successful candidates should speak English fluently and demonstrate integrity, dependability, commitment, confidence, positivity and a collaborative mindset. The school is also seeking someone with strong interpersonal ability, clear written and spoken communication, cultural awareness, resilience, sound judgement, good organisation, time management and the flexibility to work through uncertainty.

Benefits

Nord Anglia Education offers access to a professional, high-performance working environment along with a competitive pay and benefits package. Staff benefit from strong training, extensive professional development, and opportunities to innovate, collaborate and build a career across a global family of schools.

The organisation also provides access to major global learning partnerships and initiatives, including Juilliard, MIT, IMG and UNICEF, which support personalised learning and enriched student experiences.

Working in Qatar also offers the chance to live in a fast-growing country with a favourable climate and excellent travel connections.

Application process

Applications must be submitted online through the Nord Anglia Education careers portal. A complete application should include a CV, a two-page cover letter, and contact details for three professional referees, including the current School Principal or Head Teacher.

The expected start date is 1 August 2026. Applications close on Wednesday, 15 July 2026. Interviews may be held face to face or via Teams at the first stage, with final interviews scheduled in London and Doha in January 2026. The school may appoint a candidate before the closing date, so early applications are encouraged.

Safeguarding and vetting

The school is committed to creating a safe, happy and supportive environment for children and young people. It upholds strict safeguarding standards and promotes the welfare of all pupils regardless of race, ability, religion, gender or culture.

All staff in regulated roles will be subject to full national and international background checks, including satisfactory criminal record clearances from the country of residence or birth and from any country where the candidate has lived during the last 10 years.

Additional information

Job ID: 7824. Location: Doha, Qatar. Job posting date: 17 June 2026. The school is described as fast-paced and growing, with a strong community ethos and a focus on ambitious outcomes for students, staff and the wider family of schools.
