Job description

Role overview

Compass International School Doha, part of Nord Anglia Education, is seeking a Primary Class Teacher to join its Doha campus. The school delivers a premium British education to both expatriate and Qatari families across three campuses, with a warm and supportive community atmosphere and students at the centre of its approach. Compass is accredited by the Qatar National Schools Accreditation (QNSA) and is a member of BSME, COBIS and AoBSO.

The role is based in Doha, Qatar, and is intended for an educator who can thrive in a fast-moving international school environment and contribute to a high-performing primary setting.

What the role involves

You will be expected to create engaging learning experiences that align with the school’s Primary curriculum and encourage a classroom culture where pupils are challenged to achieve their best. The role calls for a respectful, discussion-based learning environment, strong relationships with children and families, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Plan and deliver primary learning activities aligned with the school curriculum.
  • Set high expectations that support progress and achievement for every pupil.
  • Promote a positive classroom climate built on mutual respect.
  • Use questioning and discussion to deepen learning.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and share specialist knowledge.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, students and other stakeholders.
  • Take responsibility for your own professional learning and development.
  • Contribute to the wider ethos and community of the school.

Candidate profile

The school is looking for a committed, creative and reflective teacher who can adapt quickly to a busy international context. You should be confident working with diverse audiences, building trust with parents and pupils, and bringing energy and positivity to the role.

The position also requires compliance with Qatar visa-related restrictions, including a relevant degree and teaching credentials obtained through face-to-face study rather than online learning.

Qualifications and experience

  • A university degree is required.
  • A recognised teaching qualification is required.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education is essential.
  • QTS or PGCE/PGDE is required.
  • Ideally, you will have at least two years of teaching experience.
  • Experience across different year groups is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of the English National Curriculum is desirable.
  • Experience in international schools is an advantage.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills are preferred.

Personal qualities

  • Fluent spoken English.
  • Integrity and honesty.
  • Reliability, loyalty and commitment.
  • Confident presence and professionalism.
  • Energetic, positive and proactive attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A respectful and culturally sensitive approach.
  • Good sense of humour and composure under pressure.
  • Problem-solving ability and sound judgement.
  • Strong organisation, time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in uncertain situations.

Benefits

Nord Anglia Education offers a professional environment, competitive remuneration and benefits, and strong opportunities for training, innovation and career growth across its global network of schools. Employees can also benefit from the chance to live and work in Qatar, a country known for year-round sunshine, travel connectivity and a vibrant international community.

Application process

Applications must be submitted online and should include a CV, a two-page cover letter, and contact details for three professional referees, including the current School Principal or Head Teacher.

The school may appoint before the closing date, so early applications are encouraged.

Important dates

Start date: 1 August 2026.

Closing date for applications: Wednesday, 15 July 2026.

First-round interviews may be held face to face or by Teams, and final interviews are scheduled for January 2026 in London and Doha.

Safeguarding and vetting

The school is committed to providing a safe, happy and supportive environment for children and young people. Safeguarding is taken seriously, and the role is subject to vetting procedures, including satisfactory criminal record checks from the country of residence or birth, as well as any country where the candidate has lived during the last 10 years.
