Role Overview
This role sits within the APAC procurement function and offers the opportunity to shape how the team evolves over the coming years. The position is based in India (Mumbai) or Malaysia and supports the EMAP market. The role acts as the main contact for business-unit purchasing for Mumbai and Hyderabad, covering areas such as HR, facilities, marketing, professional services, and business operations, while also supporting other categories as required.
Procurement Responsibilities
- Lead negotiations for low- and medium-risk, low- and medium-spend transactions.
- Run RFXs, auctions, and contract renewals through Ariba, the company’s e-sourcing platform.
- Map out and document the project pipeline and FY plan.
- Review spend and renegotiate existing agreements where needed.
- Challenge suppliers to secure strong commercial outcomes.
- Make sure spend is protected by sound contractual arrangements.
- Build stronger relationships with internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers.
- Create alternative sourcing options and strategies to reduce risk.
- Co-develop and drive regional category strategy with the global lead.
- Deliver cost-saving initiatives at country and regional levels.
- Help the APAC procurement team meet its functional objectives.
Business Support Responsibilities
- Track supplier performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs.
- Understand business needs and help build a supply approach that meets or exceeds expectations.
- Provide market intelligence and guide stakeholders toward the right decisions.
- Offer analysis and recommendations to business leaders.
- Standardize procurement methods across business lines, countries, and the region.
- Adapt quickly and work flexibly as business priorities change.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in economics, business, trading, or a related discipline.
- 4 to 6 years of experience in procurement and PR-to-PO processes.
- At least 3 to 4 years of hands-on exposure to the India market.
- Familiarity with the P2P process, market conditions, and quality system standards in the financial services and big data sectors is preferred.
- Working knowledge of commercial law, including contract risk, negotiation, and drafting.
- Strong communication and project management abilities.
- Comfort using procurement tools and technologies, with the ability to help shape new solutions.
- A professional, outcome-focused mindset with integrity, respect for company ethics, and an entrepreneurial, can-do attitude.
- Experience with Oracle ERP, Ariba, and SharePoint is beneficial but not mandatory.
