Job description
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform built for businesses. From global enterprises to early-stage startups, millions of companies rely on Stripe to take payments, expand revenue, and unlock new growth opportunities. Its goal is to raise the GDP of the internet, creating a chance to help make the global economy more accessible while doing meaningful work.
About the Team
The Product Design group spans multiple teams responsible for shaping every user-facing part of Stripe’s products. Product Designers collaborate closely with Engineers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Marketers as strategic partners within each product area. Working alongside product teams, they turn ideas into polished experiences that can be tested, released, and continuously improved. The focus is on building useful, refined products that people enjoy using and recommending.
This opening covers a broad range of Product Designer opportunities across teams such as Connect, Dashboard, Growth, and others. Final team placement may happen later in the process, and candidates may also be considered for other organizations depending on experience, location, and interests.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will partner with one area of the business and own work end to end. You will work closely with other designers to maintain a very high standard for craft and user experience. The position blends product thinking, new feature design, enhancement of existing experiences, and learning from different user segments to create solutions that help more people start and operate businesses successfully on Stripe.
Responsibilities
- Create user-focused designs that improve core product areas and strengthen the overall experience.
- Design, prototype, and validate intuitive interactions that simplify complex workflows.
- Work with designers, product managers, and engineers to shape both long-term direction and near-term execution.
- Develop polished interfaces that reflect a high design standard across Stripe.
- Present work frequently in design critiques and contribute to an open, iterative feedback culture.
- Partner with UX research to guide and verify design choices.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the core requirements for consideration. Preferred qualifications are optional and not required.
- At least 5 years of relevant product design experience.
- A portfolio showing strong fundamentals and refined UI craftsmanship.
- Experience working closely with cross-functional partners to influence product direction.
- Ability to weigh user needs, business priorities, and input from multiple stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills for explaining design rationale across different disciplines.
- Experience tackling ambiguous, complex problems across multiple product areas.
- Ability to influence teams and help shape product direction.
- Confidence presenting to leadership and telling a clear, compelling design story.
Hybrid Work Model
This position can be based in an office or in a remote location that is at least 35 miles, or 56 kilometers, from a Stripe office.
For in-office employees, the expectation is to spend at least 50% of each month in the local office or with users. This is intended to support in-person collaboration and learning while still preserving flexibility for individuals and teams.
For remote employees, the role is intended for someone who regularly works from home rather than from a Stripe office. Remote locations are defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from a Stripe office. Travel to the office for team meetings, onsite sessions, gatherings, and events may still be expected. Stripe does not pay relocation costs for a move to a remote location. Candidates are encouraged to apply only for roles that fit where they currently live or plan to live.
Pay and Benefits
The annual base salary range in the US for this position is $175,200 to $262,800.
For sales positions, the stated range would reflect total on-target earnings, including commissions or bonuses along with base pay; however, this role is not a sales position.
The final salary may vary within the stated band depending on experience, qualifications, and location, and the range may cover multiple career levels. Candidates outside the US may request the salary range for their region during the interview process.
Additional benefits may include equity, company bonus or sales commission/bonus, a 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision coverage, and wellness stipends.
