About the Role
The Open College is seeking a Programme Lead for Early Learning & Care. This role requires significant academic expertise, including contributions to program validations, teaching, sector research, and management. The ideal candidate will be a recognized expert in their academic discipline, capable of leading the development and oversight of teaching programs. This position involves influencing and shaping departmental output and contributing to the college's overall success. Responsibilities may include teaching, advising, and assessing students, as well as participating in faculty and college-wide governance and development activities.
Main Duties
1. Programme Development & Design
- Provide academic leadership and subject matter expertise for the successful design, development, and validation of the programme.
- Manage the programme development team to ensure timely completion of design and validation tasks.
- Contribute high-quality work to awards undergoing review and validation.
- Collaborate with the Head of Programme Development & Validations to ensure the programme meets relevant professional sector standards.
2. Learning and Teaching
- Oversee taught programmes and support teaching staff to ensure a successful teaching and learning experience.
- Contribute to the continuous review and enhancement of the programme curriculum for relevance and consistency.
- Ensure programme design and delivery adhere to the college's quality standards and regulations.
- Contribute to the development of academic processes and learning and teaching strategies across the college.
- May deliver teaching on various modules, employing innovative techniques to engage students.
- Provide guidance on personal development to staff and students.
- Monitor student progress and offer advice to tutors and students.
3. Research, Innovation & Networking
- Engage in national and international sector research and innovation, subject to college approval, to support college research objectives.
- Undertake subject and professional research and pedagogy development to support teaching activities.
- Lead and foster internal networks through participation in college committees and working groups.
- Develop external relationships with educational bodies, employers, and professional organizations to promote collaboration.
4. Quality Assurance & Enhancement
- Actively participate in the total quality management of the subject area.
- Assess and evaluate curriculum design and the quality of teaching provided by staff.
- Ensure adherence to and effective implementation of quality assurance and enhancement policies and processes.
- Maintain communication systems that support effective management and foster positive staff-student relations.
Additional Information
This is a part-time role, averaging 24-32 hours per month, and is fully remote.
