About the role
Brian Perry Civil is looking for a Project Engineer to support the delivery of complex structural and three waters projects in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. This position suits someone who enjoys taking ownership, planning ahead, and guiding teams through demanding stages of construction while keeping safety, quality, and programme at the forefront.
What you will do
- Drive planning and delivery across structural and three waters workstreams.
- Prepare and oversee short- to medium-term programmes and work packs.
- Coordinate subcontractors, labour, plant, and sequencing to stay on programme.
- Track project costs, update forecasts to complete, and manage task-level budgets.
- Offer technical input and day-to-day support to Site Engineers and supervisors.
- Upkeep high standards for health and safety, quality assurance, and environmental management.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate brings sound engineering judgement, a practical mindset, and the confidence to be accountable for delivery outcomes. You should be comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and leading others in a collaborative site environment.
- A tertiary qualification in civil engineering or a closely related field.
- Background as a Project Engineer on structures, bridge works, and three waters projects.
- Strong understanding of reinforced concrete, temporary works, and build sequencing.
- Ability to lead engineers, foremen, and subcontractor crews.
- Demonstrated capability in planning, cost management, and risk control.
- Clear communication skills and a cooperative, team-oriented working style.
