Opportunity Overview

This position sits inside a government department and focuses on supporting stewardship of a property portfolio while driving agreed asset renewal projects. The role covers delivery leadership, funding oversight, change management, and handling risks and issues across the programme.

Role Purpose

You will take ownership of the delivery side of assigned projects, helping ensure asset renewal work is completed on schedule, within the agreed scope, and inside budget.

Key Experience and Capabilities

The ideal candidate brings strong project management experience in a complex environment involving multiple stakeholders and uses structured programme and project methods. Experience with National Asset Management Strategies, familiarity with IIMM, and success in asset management initiatives would be an advantage.

  • Experience building and sustaining productive relationships across internal teams and external partners.
  • Confidence communicating complex matters to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving setting, influence others, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Working knowledge of legislation relevant to property development and building standards.
  • Good understanding of building systems and services.
  • Strong analytical capability using the SPM database.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification, or an equivalent mix of knowledge, skills, and experience, along with a commitment to ongoing professional growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with senior leaders.
  • Ability to review and interpret complex documents, financial data, numeric information, building plans, and other business records.
  • Strong procurement, negotiation, and contract management capability.
  • Sound financial management and control skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good judgement, organisational awareness, and political sensitivity.
