Job description
About Cognite
Cognite is a company focused on industrial digital transformation, using AI and data products to help solve complex, high-value challenges across global industry. Its platform includes capabilities such as low-code AI agents designed to speed up operational improvements and business transformation.
The company’s long-term ambition is to generate $100B in customer value by 2035 and reshape how industrial businesses operate.
Role overview
This position is responsible for leading high-priority industrial AI implementation programs from contract signature through deployment and value achievement. The Project Manager serves as the central owner of delivery outcomes, aligning every initiative with customer business priorities and measurable impact.
Key responsibilities
- Take full ownership of project execution from kickoff to closeout, including scope, budget, quality, delivery outcomes, and financial performance.
- Turn use-case goals into measurable business KPIs and facilitate value realization workshops to define baselines and track impact.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project plans covering scope, timeline, resources, budget, risks, dependencies, and quality controls.
- Coordinate complex OT/IT system integrations using agile ways of working while keeping stakeholders engaged throughout the project.
- Ensure delivery supports customer priorities such as operational excellence, safety, sustainability, and cost efficiency, supported by regular reporting and executive updates.
- Keep Account Executives, Customer Business Executives, and other stakeholders informed about status, risks, scope changes, and financial performance.
- Work with the Product team on customer-committed features or deliverables and escalate gaps through the appropriate governance process.
- Manage project economics, including bookings, revenue recognition, cost control, margin tracking, and forecasting, and report transparently to the Portfolio Manager.
- Serve as the primary customer contact during execution, including governance management, steering committee meetings, and executive briefings.
- Own customer satisfaction follow-up, coordinate with partner vendors, and keep process documentation current.
- Support change management through training and adoption activities in partnership with the Customer Business Executive.
- Act as the liaison across clients and internal teams such as Engineering, Product, and Customer Success to resolve issues and manage expectations.
- Identify expansion opportunities by understanding customer challenges and coordinating with relevant internal stakeholders.
- Use Cognite PMO playbooks and contribute to ongoing improvements based on lessons learned and process enhancements.
What success in this role looks like
- Demonstrating value through measurable outcomes, KPI tracking, and data-backed results rather than relying only on years of experience.
- Consistently delivering projects on time and within budget while handling complex multi-stakeholder environments.
- Influencing both technical and business stakeholders to align on shared outcomes without relying on formal authority.
- Capturing lessons learned and improving delivery processes so future projects scale more effectively.
- Representing Cognite’s values of impact, ownership, relentlessness, collaboration, innovation, and customer focus.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business, or a related discipline.
- Prior experience in the software industry is mandatory.
- At least 5 years of project management experience in SaaS, cloud, or enterprise software delivery, ideally with complex industrial or enterprise IT/AI projects.
- Hands-on experience with SaaS implementation lifecycles, including onboarding, training, and change management.
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional, multi-stakeholder projects in fast-moving environments.
- Deep familiarity with industrial sectors such as energy, manufacturing, chemicals, oil & gas, life sciences, utilities/power, and renewables.
- Strong financial understanding with experience in project realization tracking and forecasting.
- Practical knowledge of Agile/Scrum and exposure to PMO methods such as PMP or PRINCE2 for delivery and risk management.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Project, or Smartsheet.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for client engagements.
- Fluency in both English and German.
Preferred experience
- Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum.
- Exposure to data platforms, cloud environments such as Azure or AWS, or industrial IoT.
- Experience contributing to data engineering, analytics, AI, or machine learning projects.
Equal opportunity
Cognite is committed to providing an inclusive workplace and considers all qualified applicants equally, regardless of background.
