Job description

About the role

Cognite works on industrial digitalization, creating AI and data-driven solutions for difficult, high-stakes problems across global industry. The company combines deep industrial experience with a broad AI platform, including low-code AI agents, to speed up digital transformation and improve operations.

The company’s long-term goal is to create $100B in customer value by 2035 and help reshape how industry operates worldwide.

What the role involves

This position is accountable for the full delivery of high-priority industrial AI implementation programs, from contract completion through deployment and realization of value. The Project Manager serves as the main owner of outcomes, ensuring alignment with customer business priorities and measurable impact.

  • Own end-to-end delivery across kickoff, planning, execution, closure, and post-launch value realization, while keeping scope, budget, quality, and customer results on track.
  • Convert customer use cases into measurable KPIs and facilitate Value Realization Workshops to define baselines and track impact.
  • Create and maintain detailed plans covering scope, timelines, staffing, budget, risks, quality, dependencies, and blockers.
  • Coordinate complex integrations between OT and IT data sources using agile ways of working and active stakeholder engagement.
  • Report progress, risks, scope changes, and financial performance to stakeholders such as Account Executives, Customer Business Executives, and portfolio leadership.
  • Work with Product teams on features or deliverables included in customer commitments, and escalate gaps through the appropriate governance path.
  • Manage project economics, including bookings, revenue recognition, cost control, margin analysis, and forecasting.
  • Serve as the customer’s primary contact during delivery, lead governance forums and steering meetings, and provide executive-level updates.
  • Oversee customer satisfaction, follow up on issues, manage partner or vendor relationships, and keep project documentation current.
  • Support adoption and change management, including training and collaboration with the Customer Business Executive.
  • Act as a bridge between customers and internal teams such as Engineering, Product, and Customer Success, driving communication, risk handling, and issue resolution.
  • Watch for expansion opportunities and coordinate with relevant internal stakeholders when customer needs suggest further growth.
  • Use PMO playbooks and contribute to process improvements through lessons learned and best-practice sharing.

What success looks like

  • Consistently connecting delivery work to business outcomes and using KPI tracking to demonstrate value.
  • Keeping customer goals central throughout the project lifecycle and ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
  • Delivering complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives on time and within budget.
  • Influencing technical and business stakeholders without formal authority to reach aligned decisions.
  • Capturing lessons learned and improving repeatability for future engagements.
  • Representing company values through collaboration, ownership, urgency, and customer focus.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of project management experience, preferably delivering SaaS, cloud, or enterprise software implementations.
  • Background in the software industry is required.
  • Experience with implementation lifecycles, including onboarding, training, and change management.
  • Proven success leading complex, cross-functional projects in fast-moving environments.
  • Exposure to industrial sectors such as Energy, Manufacturing, Chemicals, Oil & Gas, Life Sciences, Utilities/Power, or Renewables.
  • Strong financial understanding, including tracking realization and forecasting.
  • Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum and practical use of PMO methods such as PMP or PRINCE2.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving ability.
  • Hands-on experience with project tools like Jira, Confluence, MS Project, or Smartsheet.
  • Fluency in English and German is mandatory.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for customer engagements.

Preferred experience

  • Project management certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum are an advantage.
  • Exposure to data platforms, cloud environments such as Azure or AWS, or industrial IoT is helpful.
  • Experience with data engineering, analytics, AI, or machine learning projects is a plus.
