Job description

Role overview

In this position, you will support the HI project’s security risk management and related functional activities in line with Opportunity Realization Standards (ORS). Working alongside the Project Security Manager, you will continuously review emerging threats, evaluate the associated risks, and shape practical mitigation measures so the project maintains a cost-effective security approach that is fit for purpose and keeps risks as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP). You will also help ensure that all relevant stakeholders clearly understand the project’s security exposure.

You will play an active role in the continued development and maturation of the HI project, including support for security documentation and deliverables across DG1 to DG5, pre-FEED and FEED work, security planning, project execution risk management, and security assurance planning.

Key responsibilities

The role carries responsibility for planning and estimating the security architecture for the execution phase of the project. You will report directly to the Project Security Manager, have a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Project Manager, and work closely with project leads.

  • Own and drive the identification, assessment, and mitigation planning for security risks, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, cost discipline, and the wider risk management approach.
  • Provide structured security input to multidisciplinary integration workshops and project reviews, and make sure security requirements are built into engineering, logistics, execution, and operational plans.
  • Help deliver all required security outputs for ORS decision gates DG1 through DG5, with orderly documentation and transfer of responsibilities from pre-DG3 to execution teams.
  • Assess security solutions and apply proven practices and technologies that strengthen project resilience, improve the overall security posture, and support lifecycle cost efficiency while remaining compliant with Group Security Standards and the SEAM Framework.
  • Take part in pre-DG4 cadence meetings and support package leads in managing risks to ALARP, including oversight and assurance of both contractor and company security plans.
  • Track the performance of physical security controls across project sites, covering deter, deny, detect, delay, and respond, while sustaining a shared operational picture through coordination with the Security Operations Centre and SCiN operations.
  • Work with Security Coordinators, intelligence teams, contractors, and logistics teams to enable daily intelligence sharing, integrated logistics planning, emergency response readiness, project movement support, and availability of GSAs and security vessels.
  • Carry out LOD1 assurance, support the implementation of offshore security mitigations, lead drills, deliver VPSHR briefings and compliance activities, contribute to pre-startup risk assessments, and act on behalf of the Project Security Manager when needed.

Candidate profile

We are looking for someone with a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution; a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field will be considered an advantage.

The ideal candidate brings strong capability in project management, analysis, planning, communication, and business writing, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams to deliver outcomes.

Professional industrial security credentials such as PFSO, PSP, CPP from ASIS, or an equivalent certification, would be beneficial.

Experience in Exploration & Production (E&P), particularly in the Niger Delta and Gulf of Guinea, is valuable. Exposure to energy, infrastructure, or regulated industries is also useful.

You should have at least 4 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 2 years in project delivery roles within top-tier consulting firms or other data-led industry settings.

Strong computer literacy is required, including the ability to manage data, create and maintain simple databases, and use activity planning tools.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, along with experience using digital collaboration and reporting tools to improve efficiency and transparency, is expected.
