Role summary

An experienced and people-focused Quality Manager is needed to lead a compact Quality team at the East Tamaki factory. The role spans local and global stakeholders and carries overall responsibility for quality across QA, QC, systems, and compliance. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position also plays an important part in the Operations Leadership team.

Key accountabilities

  • Bring a strong quality viewpoint to the plant leadership group and help shape site strategy and direction.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a small Quality team through day-to-day guidance and support.
  • Partner with production and manage testing of raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods to maintain product consistency.
  • Serve as the New Zealand food safety specialist, driving HACCP initiatives, related projects, and governance.
  • Ensure local and global quality requirements, including FSSC 22000, are embedded, sustained, and improved over time.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits for the site and vendors, and keep the operation audit-ready.
  • Work with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to address quality, packaging, and supply challenges.
  • Manage site quality systems, specifications, and documentation so that records remain accurate and compliant.
  • Track quality performance, report results, and escalate issues to global teams where needed.
  • Lead quality-related CAPEX work, training, and capability-building initiatives across the site.

Experience and qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in food science, food safety, or a related field, and bring advanced knowledge of FSSC 22000 and HACCP management, along with a Lead Auditing qualification. A minimum of five years in a similar role within FMCG or food manufacturing is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills, good negotiation ability, and a proven talent for building relationships and influencing others are essential. The role also requires willingness to engage with global teams, including evening calls and some travel.

This opportunity is based in East Tamaki, Auckland, New Zealand, and is a full-time onsite role.
