Job description

Role overview

Heritage Lifecare is looking for a part-time Receptionist to join Stillwater Lifecare & Village in Nelson, Tasman. This is a permanent position based on site, working 32 hours each week from Monday to Friday. The role sits within office and administrative support.

Stillwater Lifecare & Village is a contemporary care home and hospital with a village setting, and the team is made up of people from many different countries and backgrounds. The organisation values compassion, empathy, diversity, and a strong sense of community.

About the organisation

Heritage Lifecare is among New Zealand’s largest and most established aged care providers, and it is also the country’s biggest dementia care provider. The business is expanding quickly and operates multiple care homes and villages across New Zealand, creating broad opportunities for growth.

The workplace culture is described as caring, nurturing, and supportive, with a strong whānau spirit.

What the role involves

In this reception position, you will help create a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment for residents, visitors, and staff. The job is well suited to someone who genuinely enjoys helping others, has a calm and positive manner, and can make people feel at ease.

Day-to-day work includes handling incoming calls, greeting and assisting visitors, and carrying out general office administration. You will also contribute to a safe and caring atmosphere for residents while working closely with the wider team.

The role also offers the chance to build meaningful relationships with residents and their whānau/families, while adapting to support colleagues when needed.

Skills and experience

Applicants should bring prior administration experience in a busy, fast-moving setting. Strong people skills are important, along with the ability to develop professional relationships with residents, staff, visitors, and external contacts.

You should be organised, able to manage time well, and comfortable solving problems. Good spoken and written communication is essential, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Comfort with computers is important, including the ability to learn new systems quickly. Experience with invoicing and on-charging is preferred, though the employer is open to someone who can learn these tasks. Familiarity with Nga Paerewa sector standards and applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in the workplace is also expected.

What’s on offer

The role comes with competitive pay that reflects your skills and experience. You will be joining one of New Zealand’s more progressive aged care organisations, with opportunities to grow professionally and move forward in your career.

The work environment is collaborative and supportive, and the position offers a chance to make a real difference in residents’ lives.

Additional information

This role closes on 19 June 2026. Applications are reviewed as they come in, and interviews may be held before the closing date. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand, as visa support may not be available for this position.

The employer also states its commitment to diversity, inclusion, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
