About ALDI
ALDI is a global discount grocery retailer with a long history dating back to 1913. Since launching in Australia in 2001, the business has expanded to nearly 600 stores and 8 distribution centres across 5 states. The company positions itself as a different kind of supermarket and employer, with a focus on value, purpose, and meaningful work for its teams.
Role Overview
This opportunity is for a Store Assistant at ALDI in Hampton Park. It is suited to people who are enthusiastic, dependable, ready to learn, and comfortable working in a busy retail environment. Prior retail experience is not required.
The stores operate seven days a week, including weekends and public holidays, so the role offers variety and movement across different parts of the store rather than limiting you to a single task area.
Key Duties
- Support customers at the checkout and deliver friendly, efficient service.
- Replenish shelves so products are available and easy for customers to find.
- Manage stock carefully, including checking dates and ensuring items are priced correctly.
- Create attractive displays for ALDI special buys and promotional items.
- Maintain a clean, well-organised, and presentable store environment.
Additional Information
The hourly pay rate is $31.27 plus applicable shift allowances. The role averages 25 hours per week and is offered as a permanent part-time position, which includes paid leave, parental leave, and sick leave rather than casual employment.
ALDI highlights strong internal career pathways, with extensive training and more than 80% of store management positions filled from within. Team members are supported by a friendly, small-team culture and programs such as MyALDI Wellbeing, discounted access to Fitness Passport and private health insurance, paid parental leave, superannuation on parental leave, up to 5 days of paid compassionate leave, natural disaster leave, emergency services leave, confidential Employee Assistance Program support for employees and families, and free physiotherapy for non-work-related issues.
The company also emphasises sustainability, community impact, support for farmers and suppliers, and a commitment to offering customers a better value for less. ALDI states that it welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and identities in an inclusive workplace.
What ALDI Looks For
Applicants should bring a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and willingness to learn. The company is open to candidates starting out in retail and offers training to help build a career in store operations.
