About the role
As a Sales Advisor with M&S Opticians in Birmingham, you’ll be a key part of delivering high-quality eye and hearing care services while also helping to showcase these services within the wider M&S store. The role combines customer service, sales support, stock handling, record keeping, and patient assistance to help ensure every visitor has a smooth and positive experience.
You’ll support customers in choosing suitable eyewear, explain care and maintenance guidance, and help with the day-to-day running of the optical area. The position suits someone with a strong retail background, confident communication skills, and the ability to stay organised in a busy environment.
Key responsibilities
- Introduce optical and hearing services to store visitors to encourage appointment bookings
- Keep customer information up to date and maintain stock records and levels
- Respond to customer queries in a professional and helpful manner
- Help patients choose frames and lenses that match their needs and lifestyle
- Carry out simple adjustments and minor repairs where needed
- Arrange and confirm patient appointments
- Assist with contact lens fitting and dispensing
- Complete preliminary pre-tests and measurements
- Contribute to the achievement of sales targets for the store
- Support promotional activity and special in-store events
About you
We’re looking for someone who is customer-focused, attentive to detail, and motivated by helping people find the right solutions. You should be comfortable building rapport, offering guidance, and working efficiently across different tasks in a busy retail setting. Optical experience is welcome, but it is not essential if you’re eager to learn.
