Job description

About the team and role

The Scholarships and Scholar Development Team sits within Graduate Research School and Ethics, a central support function at Massey University under the Dean, Research. The university is recruiting for two Scholarships Advisor positions: one permanent appointment and one 12-month fixed-term role covering maternity leave. Both positions are full-time and based on the Manawatu campus in Palmerston North.

In this role, you will help coordinate the administration of scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Your work will support the development, assessment, selection, and award process, while keeping procedures efficient, accurate, and well organised. You will also provide guidance and clear communication to students and both internal and external stakeholders throughout the scholarship journey, helping ensure the process supports the university’s strategic goals.

What the role suits

This opportunity is ideal for an administrator with strong organisation skills and prior experience in a tertiary or student administration environment. The role suits someone who can work well in a busy, high-volume team, manage several priorities at once, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

You should be comfortable working flexibly, using sound judgement, and handling competing demands with maturity. Confidence with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly are important, along with a strong service mindset and the ability to work through problems while contributing ideas to improve processes and service delivery.
