About the Role
Bureau Veritas International is seeking an experienced Offshore E&I Inspector to join their offshore inspection team. This role is crucial for ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance during the Integrated Hull, Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines (IHUC) phases of offshore projects. The inspector will conduct comprehensive inspections of electrical, instrumentation, and telecommunications equipment across various project stages, collaborating with contractors and sub-contractors in a demanding offshore setting.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead EPC contractor in executing inspection and testing activities for electrical, instrumentation, and telecom systems of NFXP topside facilities, adhering to project specifications, company standards, and approved drawings.
- Represent the company in inspecting site activities performed by EPC Contractors, vendors, and their subcontractors for all electrical, control, and instrument installations.
- Review and approve procedures and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) submitted by EPC contractors and vendors.
- Liaise with the EPC contractor's quality team and the project quality department regarding contractor performance, and coordinate with the project construction team to ensure quality plans are implemented and critical interfaces for topside equipment are identified.
- Examine approved work packages and project quality documents to ensure ITPs and quality control procedures for E&I construction and pre-commissioning activities align with the latest project specifications.
- Participate in weekly QA/QC meetings, addressing E&I quality concerns and facilitating the closure of Quality Observation Cards (QOCs), Corrective Action Requests (CARs), and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Lead weekly Flawless project walkdowns, documenting quality concerns identified and initiating closeout meetings.
- Coordinate with the EPC contractor's quality team for system inspection readiness and lead all inspection and testing activities.
- Perform visual, close, and detailed inspections and verifications of E&I apparatus for use in potentially hazardous atmospheres, in compliance with IEC 60079-14 & 17 standards.
- Conduct receipt inspections of incoming materials, including electrical, instrumentation, and telecommunication equipment, cable drums, cable trays/ladders and accessories, impulse tubing and fittings, and MCT blocks, as specified in purchase orders and Inspection Release Notes (IRNs).
- Perform IR testing on power and control cables, bus bars, transformer primary and secondary windings, and motors.
- Witness testing and commissioning of various field instruments, Fire & Gas Devices, Clean Agent Systems for Buildings, Sounders, Manual Call Points, HIPPS, and VESDA Systems.
- Witness loop and performance testing for control and shutdown loops, including direct acting, reverse acting, split range, cascade loops, cause & effect, and interlock verification for Fire & Gas and ESD systems.
- Conduct electrical tests such as functional tests of Motor Control Centre Panels, Normal & Emergency Lighting Panels, HVAC Control Panels, circuit breakers, AHUs, ACCUs, PFUs, Steam Humidifiers, no-load and load run tests of motors, phase sequence checks, grounding resistance tests, IR tests, earth leakage tests, and illumination tests.
- Actively participate in mechanical completion walkdowns, Ready for Start-up safety reviews, and identify construction and commissioning punch list items and carry-over works.
- Witness calibration of instruments, custody transfer metering skids, and stroke/seat leak testing of control and shutdown valves and analyzers & sampling systems.
- Review and approve subcontractor EX documents, including Ex Registers, Ex Check Sheets, and Ex Certificates.
- Compile the Ex Register and associated documentation for all topside equipment, including Ex Registers, Ex Check Sheets, and Ex Certificates.
- Actively support the company's commitment to project quality and safety requirements, adhering to established systems to meet project deliverable quality and safety standards.
- Ensure tracking of anomalies and non-conformities (NCR/CAR) raised by the Contractor/Subcontractor, verifying their correct follow-up and closure in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Conduct construction quality surveillance for materials and preservation activities as per plan, submitting reports to the QA/QC Lead.
Qualifications and Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical/Instrumentation/Electronics Engineering.
- Over 15 years of work experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Must possess valid COMPEX (Ex01-Ex04) or IECEX (Ex01, Ex03, Ex04, EX06, EX07 & EX08) certification.
- On-the-job training experience in various cable gland installations, instrument tube fittings (Swagelok/Parker), cable tray/ladder installation (OGLAEND), and assembly of MCT (ROXTEC or HAWKE) is preferred.
