Role overview
This opportunity is being shared on behalf of a partner employer that oversees the application process and all subsequent hiring steps. The hiring company is seeking a Senior Recruiting Manager for Engineering & Data in Canada.
This is a senior leadership role with broad influence over technical hiring. You will shape and run recruiting strategy for Engineering and Data teams while staying directly involved in hands-on recruiting. The position combines individual requisition ownership with people leadership, as you will also guide and develop a Senior Recruiter. It sits at the crossroads of talent strategy, operational rigor, and data-informed recruiting, with a strong focus on improving hiring quality, strengthening pipelines, and supporting the organization’s growth.
The role also includes helping advance AI-enabled recruiting practices, including modern tools and workflows for sourcing, screening, and candidate evaluation. It is well suited to someone who enjoys balancing strategy with execution in a fast-moving, metrics-focused environment.
Accountabilities
- Manage the complete recruiting lifecycle for Engineering and Data positions, from intake discussions through offer acceptance, across a range of seniority levels.
- Serve as both an individual contributor and people manager by directly owning requisitions while leading and developing a Senior Recruiter.
- Design and carry out long-range hiring plans, including proactive pipeline building for senior and difficult-to-fill technical roles.
- Work closely with Engineering and Data leadership to set hiring priorities, influence decisions, and keep the recruiting process consistent and high quality.
- Review funnel data, recruiting metrics, and hiring results to spot bottlenecks, identify root causes, and drive process enhancements.
- Own offer strategy and negotiation conversations, advising stakeholders on market conditions and competitive compensation positioning.
- Support the adoption of AI-based recruiting tools and approaches that improve sourcing, screening, and evaluation efficiency.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in full-cycle recruiting, with substantial exposure to Engineering and/or Data hiring.
- At least 2 years of experience managing recruiters, including coaching, performance support, and prioritization of workload.
- Strong track record of partnering with senior technical leaders and shaping hiring strategy using data and market intelligence.
- Deep understanding of structured interviews, hiring frameworks, and end-to-end recruiting process design.
- Proven ability to handle complex negotiations and close senior technical talent in competitive markets.
- Analytical approach with experience using recruiting metrics to improve outcomes in measurable ways.
- Practical experience using AI tools in recruiting workflows and awareness of where they add the most value.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills with the ability to align technical and non-technical partners.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation aligned with Canadian and North American tech-market standards, varying by location and experience.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage as part of the benefits package.
- Equity participation included in the overall reward structure.
- Flexible work setup that supports remote-first or hybrid collaboration.
- Performance-based bonuses tied to personal and company results.
- Flexible vacation approach with an emphasis on work-life balance.
- Support for ongoing learning, professional growth, and skill development.
- Inclusive and collaborative workplace with a strong commitment to accessibility and equal opportunity hiring.
Additional information
This role is being handled through a partner company that manages the application review and next steps. An AI-powered matching process is used to evaluate applications quickly, objectively, and fairly against the role’s core criteria. The shortlist is shared with the hiring company, while interviews, assessments, and final decisions are managed internally by the employer.
By applying, you acknowledge that your personal data may be processed for candidate evaluation and shared with the hiring employer. This processing is based on legitimate interest and pre-contractual measures under applicable data protection laws, including GDPR. You may exercise your rights to access, correct, erase, or object to processing at any time.
Artificial intelligence tools may also be used to assist with parts of the recruitment process, such as resume review, application analysis, and identifying possible inconsistencies or verification signals. These tools support the recruitment team but do not replace human judgment, and final hiring decisions are made by people.
