Job description

Overview

Gallagher Security is opening a major new intake for its Software Engineering Graduate Programme, created to grow the next wave of engineering talent within the business. The company is expanding internationally and investing further in its cyber secure technology, and this programme is part of that long-term growth.

Gallagher Security is based in Hamilton, New Zealand, and operates as a global technology company with more than 1,700 people across the world and customers in over 160 countries. Its secure access control, perimeter protection, and intruder detection products are used to safeguard highly sensitive environments such as government, defence, and critical infrastructure.

Up to 10 graduates will be hired to start in February 2027 on a permanent basis. From the first day, you will be part of a collaborative engineering environment and contribute to real products and platforms used worldwide.

The role is located at Innovation Park in Hamilton, where you will work with experienced engineers, product teams, and technical leaders while learning on the job.

Graduate Programme

This is a two-year graduate pathway designed to fast-track your growth through practical experience, varied engineering exposure, and guidance from mentors and senior leaders.

You will begin as a permanent junior employee and be an active member of the Product & Technology teams from the outset.

As you move through the programme, you will rotate through different teams and projects so you can broaden your experience and find the areas that best suit your interests and strengths.

  • Gain exposure to several areas of software engineering
  • Work with a range of technologies, products, and engineering methods
  • Learn directly from seasoned technical experts and leaders
  • Understand how large-scale technology products are created, delivered, and maintained
  • Identify the career direction that best matches your strengths and interests

You will join a cohort of graduates in February 2027, creating a shared learning journey as you begin your engineering career together.

Candidate Profile

The company is seeking soon-to-be graduates who are enthusiastic about technology, eager to learn, and ready to contribute in a dynamic engineering setting.

Strong academic performance is preferred, and the role is aimed at applicants who show curiosity, problem-solving ability, and a collaborative mindset. You do not need to arrive with every skill already in place; what matters most is your potential and willingness to grow.

Eligibility

  • Currently studying and due to graduate in 2026 with a Bachelor of Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • B+ average or higher is preferred
  • Genuine interest and enthusiasm for technology
  • Comfortable learning quickly and solving problems
  • Adaptable, resilient, and able to work through challenges
  • Confident using digital tools and exploring new technologies
  • Enjoys teamwork, collaboration, and contributing to shared goals

Why Join Gallagher Security

This opportunity gives you the chance to build a career with a globally recognised technology company while still enjoying the accessibility and community of a New Zealand-headquartered engineering workplace.

  • Work on security technology recognised around the world
  • Contribute to meaningful engineering work early in your career
  • Learn from skilled engineers and technical leaders
  • Develop broad technical capability through rotational assignments
  • Grow in a collaborative and innovative environment
  • Join a company investing strongly in technology, growth, and product innovation
