Job description
About the role
This internship offers direct, practical experience in building AI-driven procurement infrastructure aimed at solving one of the largest and most complex cost challenges in European healthcare. It is a fast-moving, hands-on position for engineers who show strong initiative, curiosity, and a builder’s mindset.
The role is suited to a generalist developer with a strong frontend orientation. You should be comfortable shaping user journeys and implementing them in React and TypeScript, while also taking ownership across backend logic, data work, AI-enabled processes, and cloud deployment. The environment rewards speed, resilience in ambiguity, and a focus on clean, high-quality code.
You will work closely with the founders, contribute to a live product, and gain rapid growth exposure in a startup that is scaling toward €10M ARR in 2026.
Responsibilities
- Help build complete product flows, covering the interface, backend services, data processing, and unusual edge cases.
- Create and improve frontend experiences using React and TypeScript, while also supporting dependable backend systems.
- Contribute to AI-based components such as embeddings, retrieval systems, and agents that improve operational efficiency.
- Work on data pipelines that handle large volumes of unstructured data.
- Make practical decisions on architecture, tooling, and frameworks to achieve the right balance between delivery speed and software quality.
- Deploy, operate, and maintain software in cloud environments with full ownership of shipping and running the product.
- Write code that is clean, maintainable, testable, and built around reusable APIs and components.
- Collaborate across the stack and learn through reviews, pair programming, and guidance from experienced engineers.
Requirements
- You are an ambitious engineering student or recent graduate with a solid software engineering foundation and real interest in AI.
- You bring a generalist approach, with a clear preference for frontend work, while still being open to backend, data, and AI tasks.
- You are proactive, self-directed, and able to convert vague needs into shipped software.
- You learn quickly and can pick up new tools and frameworks with ease.
- You are comfortable iterating with users and clients, including across different cultural contexts.
- You have strong analytical ability, solve problems effectively, and pay close attention to detail.
- You are motivated by building excellent software in a startup setting that moves quickly.
- You are willing to work onsite in Munich and operate with a higher level of intensity than a standard 9–5 role.
- You have a good grasp of full-stack development, especially React and TypeScript, including how to design user flows.
- You have backend experience, ideally with Node.js, and understand APIs and data modeling.
- You have built software projects before, whether through academic, personal, or professional work.
- Experience with Docker and cloud platforms is an advantage.
- AI-related experience is a plus, particularly around embeddings, retrieval, structured outputs, tool calling, evaluations, and agent-style workflows beyond simple prompt writing.
- You take ownership, communicate clearly, and are comfortable working with technical stakeholders and clients.
- You actively welcome feedback and want to improve quickly.
- A portfolio, shipped projects, or a meaningful GitHub profile is a plus.
- Prior work on workflow-heavy B2B products, internal tools, or operations software is a plus.
Perks
- Central Munich office with regular team events and dinners.
- Monthly wellness budget.
- Access to any AI or productivity tools needed to do your best work.
- International exposure and travel opportunities.
- Flexible work arrangement with time-zone responsibility.
- Opportunity to receive a full-time offer.
Interview process
The hiring process includes four stages.
- Intro call with one of the founders to exchange introductions and learn about SANOVIO.
- Technical interview made up of two parts: a take-home exercise with a short presentation, and a system design interview.
- The take-home task is based on a real SANOVIO workflow and user flow in React and TypeScript, with light end-to-end elements such as API integration, data modeling, edge cases, and clean architecture, followed by a presentation of your solution.
- Personal fit conversation with another co-founder to assess culture and working style.
- Final offer stage if there is a strong mutual fit.
Additional information
The company is looking for people who are excited to work directly with the founder team and contribute to a product that is still evolving. The role is based in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.
Founder team: Noel, Alex, and Yong.
Work style
This is a high-agency, high-ownership internship where you are expected to move quickly, collaborate closely, and take responsibility for what you build.
