Role Overview
This Project Statistician role within manufacturing is responsible for applying statistical thinking and the right analytical methods to support current and new products and processes. The position contributes to product and process development by using designed experiments, sampling methods, regression analysis, regulatory specification setting, control strategy development, and capability assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with manufacturing teams to provide statistical expertise, design studies, analyze data, and help communicate evidence-based decisions that improve processes, deepen process understanding, support analytical methods, and strengthen stability studies.
- Create and refine control strategies for manufacturing processes and analytical assays, assess process control and capability, and help define suitable regulatory specifications.
- Explain statistical ideas and analytical findings clearly in individual discussions, presentations, and internal documentation.
- Build a strong understanding of the process and systems involved in manufacturing the active ingredient and/or finished drug product.
- Act as the statistical lead on cross-functional teams, offering guidance and problem-solving support across a variety of projects.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across functions and maintain strong interpersonal effectiveness in a role that involves substantial interaction with customers, peers, and management.
Requirements
- A master’s degree in Statistics is required.
- Experience or exposure to chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) work is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on proficiency with statistical tools such as JMP, SAS, or R is preferred.
- Knowledge gained through coursework in experimental design, regression, Six Sigma, statistical process control and improvement, mixed models, and sampling is desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Background in drug development or manufacturing is an advantage.
- Ability to contribute to decision-making discussions and help move choices forward.
- Capacity to manage several priorities at once while working through ambiguity.
- Proven teamwork, interpersonal effectiveness, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability in a fast-moving environment.
