System / Database Operations Senior Engineer

Role Overview

This position is suited to a professional who can work with limited oversight and follow established procedures and standards. The role supports the delivery of more specialized and complex reports within the relevant area and contributes toward functional milestones and operational goals.

The job focuses on supporting ZATCA’s IT systems and database operations through guideline and standard development, software and hardware installation and upgrades, security and operations patching, issue investigation, and daily monitoring of systems and applications to maintain stable performance.

Key Duties

• Review the existing operating model for ZATCA systems and database operations, identify gaps and pain points, and propose improvements based on current industry practices and standards.
• Manage day-to-day systems and database operations work, and evaluate whether repetitive tasks can be automated by creating scripts where practical.
• Handle incoming change requests for IT systems and databases, track implementation progress, and ensure requests are completed within the required timeframe.
• Work in line with applicable policies, procedures, and standard operating practices so activities remain controlled and consistent.
• Set priorities, guide work allocation, assign tasks, and monitor the progress of junior team members or subordinates.

Additional Operational Scope

The role also includes participation in installing, configuring, and upgrading software, hardware, operating systems, and related processes as scheduled. It covers supporting operations and security patch deployment, reviewing vendor release notes, resolving incidents and tickets through root-cause analysis, and preparing performance reports based on daily monitoring of systems and applications.

Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent field is required. The role calls for at least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
