Role overview
The Network Operations Center (NOC) acts as the central control hub for transportation execution across the Amazon supply chain. It supports operations across multiple regions, including North America, India, and Europe, by helping ensure freight moves on schedule from vendors to fulfillment centers and from fulfillment centers to carrier hubs. When disruptions occur, the team works to identify the issue, coordinate with the right stakeholders, and drive resolution. In addition to handling immediate exceptions, the role also focuses on spotting recurring patterns, analyzing network data, and recommending automation or process changes that improve efficiency.
This position is important to the reliable functioning of transportation operations and contributes directly to timely customer deliveries.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with external partners such as carriers and vendors/suppliers, as well as internal teams including retail, finance, software support, and fulfillment centers.
- Escalate discrepancies, risks, or data variances to the appropriate owners and teams, then track the issue through to closure.
- Prepare clear written and verbal updates, including narratives summarizing weekly observations, deviations from goals, and key outcomes for review discussions.
- Support customers in a real-time, 24/7 operating environment.
- Contribute ideas for process enhancement and actively work to implement improvements through to completion.
Basic qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification is required.
- Prior experience in a production environment that runs around the clock is expected.
- Ability to work closely with development and business stakeholders to explain business impact and understand requirements.
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP, along with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-changing, team-oriented setting.
Preferred background
- Experience in technical support or operations, ideally involving tools or technologies such as Java, SQL, or Python.
