Utility Worker

Role Overview

This Utility Worker position is based at the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The role supports food service and facility upkeep by keeping kitchen and service areas clean, sanitary, and organized. It includes routine cleaning, handling supplies, and helping with basic setup and cleanup tasks as needed.

Work Schedule

Compensation

The pay for this role is between $14 and $16 per hour.

Key Duties

The position involves maintaining cleanliness across food preparation and service spaces, operating dishwashing processes, and helping ensure sanitation standards are followed. Duties may vary depending on the account and operational needs.

Required Capabilities

This job may require frequent walking or standing for long periods, including shifts that can extend beyond 8 hours. You should also be able to bend, reach, stoop, push, pull, and lift as needed in a busy work environment.

Qualifications

A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is preferred. Prior related work experience is not required. Knowledge of sanitation practices and basic food safety is needed.
