About the Role

Based at Sulzer’s Wexford site in County Wexford, this position sits within a specialist centre for wastewater pump technology. The engineering teams there work directly with products that help safeguard communities, infrastructure, and the environment across the world. The site is involved from early product development through certification, making it a key part of turning new concepts into dependable, real-world solutions.

As a Test Engineer, you will play a central role in Product Development, Product Introduction, and Continuous Technology initiatives. Your work will help convert design ideas into compliant, reliable products used in wastewater applications. The role offers hands-on exposure to hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and compliance testing, while working closely with local and international teams. It provides meaningful ownership, influence over product decisions, and room to build advanced technical capability as the business continues investing in testing and future technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Run hydraulic performance tests covering flow, head, efficiency, and NPSH.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical tests, including vibration, noise, and motor performance checks.
• Complete electrical safety assessments such as dielectric strength, insulation resistance, and leakage current testing.
• Evaluate pumps in wastewater-like conditions, including solids handling, clogging, wear, and lifetime durability.
• Coordinate worldwide testing needs for products by aligning approaches, resources, and schedules with international teams.
• Prepare and deliver performance, safety, and compliance testing in line with ISO, EN, IEC, Hydraulic Institute (HI), CSA / UL, IECEEC, and FM requirements.
• Create compliant test plans, procedures, and reports for certification purposes.
• Assist with third-party audits and inspections, including CSA (SMTC) evaluations.
• Review and interpret test data to spot patterns, deviations, and non-conformities.
• Investigate failures, suggest corrective actions, and support product design improvements.

What You Need

• A solid technical background in hydraulics, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
• Practical experience in test execution, validation, or compliance testing within an engineering or manufacturing setting.
• A methodical and detail-focused working style, along with the confidence to collaborate across functions.
• Comfort with balancing hands-on testing, documentation, analysis, and stakeholder communication.
