Job purpose
As a Project Engineer, you will steer engineering projects from the planning stage through design and execution, making sure they are delivered on schedule, stay within the approved budget, and meet the expected quality standards. This role involves close coordination with architects, contractors, and fellow engineers to achieve successful project results.
Key responsibilities
- Create detailed project plans covering objectives, timelines, budgets, and the resources needed to deliver each milestone.
- Partner with architects, contractors, and other engineering professionals to prepare drawings, specifications, and plans that align with design requirements.
- Track day-to-day execution to confirm work is progressing according to plan, budget, drawings, and specifications, while also checking contractor performance and construction progress.
- Prepare project budgets, estimate costs, and keep a close watch on spending so projects remain financially controlled.
- Set up and apply quality control measures to ensure engineering work meets required standards and specifications.
- Spot possible project risks early and develop practical mitigation plans to reduce their impact.
- Maintain complete project records such as plans, design documentation, schedules, and construction progress reports.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline is required.
- At least 5 years of experience handling engineering projects or project management work is expected.
- You should have a solid understanding of engineering principles, methods, and standards.
- Strong capability in planning, budgeting, and scheduling projects is important for this role.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities are essential for working with multiple stakeholders.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills are necessary to manage issues effectively.
- Background in the construction sector is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with project management tools such as MS Project is expected.
- Exposure to engineering design software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks is an advantage.
- A Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.
