Role overview
Heritage Lifecare is looking for a part-time Gardener to join St Joseph's Lifecare in Upper Hutt, Wellington. This is a permanent 25-hour-per-week position with AM shifts, based at a care home with hospital-level care. The role suits someone who enjoys outdoor work and takes pride in keeping grounds neat, safe, and well presented.

Key duties
The gardener will be responsible for looking after lawns, gardens, and surrounding outdoor spaces to a high standard. The work includes mowing, edging, controlling weeds, and carrying out general garden maintenance. The employer is seeking someone dependable, approachable, professional, and committed to delivering quality presentation.
Experience and skills
Applicants should ideally have experience in gardening, landscaping, or lawn mowing. Practical knowledge of lawn care, weed management, pruning, and routine garden upkeep is preferred. A horticultural qualification or equivalent hands-on experience is an advantage. The job also requires the ability to work alone, organise daily work effectively, handle physical outdoor tasks, and use gardening tools and equipment safely. Strong attention to detail, initiative, problem-solving ability, good communication, and a reliable, punctual attitude are important. A full clean driver's licence is required.
