Role overview
Join a collaborative team at UQ Biological Resources that supports high-impact research in a university setting. In this permanent, full-time role, you will help keep material handling and specialised cleaning services running smoothly so research activities can continue to operate at a high standard.
The position is based across the Herston Campus and the TRI Dutton Park Precinct. It offers a base salary of $70,318 to $77,400 plus 17% superannuation at HEW Level 3.
What you will do
- Carry out cage wash and material handling duties such as cleaning, sterilising, and processing specialised equipment.
- Support waste management, equipment upkeep, quality control, and biosecurity practices.
- Work with internal teams and stores staff to manage supply flow, stock coordination, inventory, and distribution.
- Assist with basic animal husbandry tasks and, when required, take part in rostered weekend and public holiday shifts after training.
- Handle physically active work that includes lifting, pushing, and moving equipment and supplies.
What you will bring
You should be a reliable and practical team member who takes pride in accurate work and contributes positively to research support services. The role suits someone who is organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
- A Certificate III, or Year 12/Certificate II combined with relevant experience, or an equivalent mix of education and work background.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong focus on detail, quality, and consistency.
- Good planning and time management skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Prior experience in laboratory animal facilities or similar settings.
- Familiarity with cage wash processes, waste handling, and specialised equipment.
- Understanding of WHS, OGTR, and biosecurity requirements, along with basic animal handling experience.
