Overview
RAND Engineering & Architecture, DPC is an employee-owned Manhattan firm founded in 1987. With a team of more than 115 people, the company plans, specifies, and oversees restoration, modernization, and adaptive reuse work for building owners, managers, and co-op/condo boards.
The firm is hiring a Project Associate or Project Engineer for its Façade & Roofing group. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, energetic, and comfortable working as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Support façade and roofing assignments from proposal stage through client acceptance, handling both administrative and technical coordination.
- Review building exterior systems, define scopes of work, and prepare budget estimates.
- Carry out Local Law 11/FISP reporting, field inspections, condition documentation, report preparation, and DOB submission support.
- Set project goals, procedures, and performance expectations within company policy, while coordinating designs with other disciplines.
- Develop construction documents and details to resolve deficiencies in line with DOB and LPC rules and guidance.
- Assist with contractor bidding, including solicitation and evaluation of bids.
- Perform construction monitoring and special inspections, prepare site visit reports, and maintain communication with LPC when needed.
- Track project schedules, issue change orders, review payment requests, and manage closeout activities.
- Watch project budgets closely to protect profitability and support ongoing client relationships.
- Spot potential new work and share opportunities with Client Services for both new and existing clients.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering from a four-year program.
- Two to five years of experience designing and managing exterior repair or roofing projects.
- Strong interest and working knowledge across exterior envelope systems, weatherproofing, masonry repair, historic preservation, landmark work, roofing, and FISP inspections/reports.
- Prior experience working in New York is required.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Proven capability in estimating, scheduling, budget control, construction observation, client management, and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Strong organization, leadership, and communication abilities, including the capacity to train others and review work for accuracy and completeness.

Compensation
The salary range for this office-based position is USD 75,000 to USD 100,000 per year.
