Role overview
The Yardperson will be responsible for the smooth running of the yard and warehouse area, supporting customer service, stock movement, housekeeping, compliance, and general branch presentation. The position plays an important part in maintaining safety, accuracy, and high operational standards.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the daily activity of the yard and warehouse area.
- Make sure customer orders are completed accurately and delivered on time.
- Handle all incoming and outgoing goods.
- Follow warehouse and yard rules, legal requirements, and internal procedures, with particular attention to health and safety.
- Contribute to improvements and the longer-term development of the operation.
- Keep the yard and external areas tidy and professionally presented.
- Maintain precise administrative and operational records.
- Deliver a consistently high level of service, efficiency, and performance.
- Work alternate Saturday mornings as part of the schedule.
Experience and skills
- Strong verbal communication and practical problem-solving ability.
- Good teamwork skills, with the confidence to work independently when needed.
- Previous experience in a merchanting environment is preferred.
- Understanding of building products or the wider industry would be beneficial.
- A full driving licence is required.
- Competence with computers and basic digital systems.
