Role Overview

The team is hiring an Android Engineer to create custom Android applications from the earliest idea stage through launch in the Android marketplace. The ideal professional combines strong engineering skills with creativity, innovation, and the ability to balance advanced technology work with reliable delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute across the full development lifecycle, including design, planning, coding, deployment, and the creation of reusable engineering practices.
• Rapidly build proof-of-concept prototypes based on a given brief.
• Design, build, and support new features for mobile applications using Java-based development on Android.
• Take end-to-end ownership of a complete module, component, or application area.
• Create unit test cases for the assigned project module.
• Apply technical expertise and creative thinking to deliver practical and innovative solutions.
• Improve application performance and stay current with trends in mobile technology.

Minimum Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of software development experience with a B.E., B.Tech., M.E., M.Tech., or M.S. in Computer Science, Electronics, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of Android mobile application development.
• Prior startup experience will be considered an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on production experience with Java and Kotlin.
• Good understanding of design patterns such as MVVM, MVP, MVI, and MVC, along with Android Architecture Components and unit/UI test writing.
• Strong grasp of the Android app lifecycle from design through delivery, plus exposure to third-party libraries and APIs such as RxJava, Retrofit, Dagger, and Glide.
• In-depth knowledge of core Android elements including Activities, Services, BroadcastReceivers, Intents, Handlers, and background processing.
• Exposure to Coroutines is an added advantage.
• Experience with background processing, battery optimization, memory optimization, multithreading, location APIs, push notifications, and remote configuration.
• Comfort working in large, modular codebases and using Git for source control.
• Understanding of the broader mobile ecosystem, including current architectures, trends, and emerging technologies.

Eligibility

Applicants should hold a B.Tech. or B.E. degree in any specialization. The role also calls for 2 to 5 years of experience in software development and a background in Android application development.
