More than 700 organizations around the world use Camunda, including 9 of the top 10 US banks, to improve efficiency, reduce time to value, and create better customer experiences.

The company operates fully remotely and globally, and is actively evolving into an AI-first organization built on its own platform. Across the business, Camunda uses agentic AI to automate intelligent processes, orchestrate work, and increase the impact of human contribution.

Camunda has been recognized on GP Bullhound’s Top 100 Next Unicorn list, is Great Place to Work certified for 2025, is named as a Visionary in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Business Orchestration and Automation Technologies, and placed 3rd in Flexa’s 2026 Most Flexible Companies list.

Role Overview

Camunda is looking for an Engineering Manager for its CI/CD infrastructure platform, which is treated as an internal product. The goal of the platform is to provide a golden path that helps more than 150 engineers across 20+ teams ship quickly and with high quality at scale, while allowing them to stay focused on building the agentic technologies that support the company’s market leadership.

The team is entering a major quality expansion that will significantly raise testing volume and engineering throughput. The platform must scale smoothly without creating additional developer friction or operational overhead.

In this role, you will lead a high-impact remote team of four infrastructure engineers and help move the organization toward a scalable, low-toil platform. You will act as a servant leader and advocate for the engineers who depend on the platform every day, making the right approach the easiest one to follow.

What You Will Do

  • Keep the infrastructure platform delivering reliably while continuously improving it.
  • Drive a substantial reduction in manual effort by applying an AI-led engineering approach, with a goal of reaching a zero-touch, scalable platform. This includes using AI to support dependency management, incident response, cloud cost optimization, and developer assistance so the team can absorb more scope without growing headcount.
  • Define and execute the strategy for CI/CD and artifact distribution systems so they can handle the upcoming quality surge without increasing engineering toil.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop a platform team of four infrastructure engineers by setting clear expectations, delivering timely and practical feedback, and building a culture of empathy, autonomy, and continuous improvement in an asynchronous remote setting.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on willingness to use the company’s product.
  • Experience leading people, including a history of helping engineers progress into senior and more advanced roles.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to turn technical needs into an engineering roadmap and broader strategy and then execute it across teams.
  • Deep technical understanding and practical experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS.
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes across any distribution.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, ArgoCD, or similar systems.
  • Background scaling high-volume CI/CD environments such as GitHub Actions with self-hosted runners or equivalent tooling.
  • Backend engineering experience and fluency in at least one programming language, such as Python.
  • Ability to review complex architecture and code, and willingness to contribute directly when needed, for example by building internal workflow automations.
  • Proven effectiveness in remote, async-first environments where team efficiency must be maintained and improved.

Nice to Have

  • Experience turning teams into AI-native or automation-first organizations.
  • Exposure to technical product management or strong product-oriented thinking.
  • Experience introducing FinOps practices and accountability.
