About the role
Hatch is hiring a Document Controller to join its Information Management team in Melbourne. This position supports major engineering work by keeping project information well managed, compliant, and easy for teams to access. You will work with both internal and external stakeholders and help coordinate documentation, system setup, and information governance throughout the project lifecycle.
The role sits within Hatch’s Project Delivery Group, a global team focused on delivering projects to a high standard across mining, energy, and infrastructure. The business has a long history of technical expertise and emphasizes safe, innovative, and sustainable solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Create and roll out document control procedures and work instructions tailored to specific projects.
- Set up and maintain document management systems, including access permissions and metadata structure.
- Manage controlled document flows and distribution matrices.
- Process, file, format, and quality review project documents and correspondence.
- Check that documentation follows project rules and applicable standards, including ISO 19650.
- Provide document management training to project contributors across several offices.
- Support document handover, archiving, and project close-out tasks.
- Respond promptly to document management queries from internal users and outside stakeholders.
What you will bring
You should have prior experience in document control or information management on large engineering or infrastructure projects, ideally in structured project settings. The role calls for strong communication, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to manage information in a disciplined and compliant way.
Hands-on experience with document management platforms is important, along with a strong grasp of metadata, configuration management, and document governance. You will also need solid capability with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, PDF editing tools, and file management software.
