About the Role
Join Scotiabank as a Software Developer (Level 6) in the Analytics & AI group, where you'll build scalable, secure applications that enable data-driven automation and AI workflows. This position involves full-stack development duties encompassing frontend, backend, data integration, and AI-powered solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain full-stack web applications including responsive and accessible user interfaces using frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.
- Create backend services and APIs leveraging languages such as Python, Node.js, or Java.
- Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to manage relational and non-relational data.
- Contribute to AI-enhanced applications including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), workflow orchestration technologies like LangChain and LangGraph, and agent-based automation systems.
- Integrate internal and external APIs, handle data transformation tasks, ETL processes, and ensure data quality within analytics and AI contexts.
- Produce clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while adhering to secure coding and enterprise governance standards.
- Engage in collaborative agile processes alongside engineering, data science, and business teams to translate requirements and deliver effective solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Between 1 to 3 years of software development experience including internships, academic projects, or professional work.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Java.
- Hands-on experience with frontend frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue, and backend/API development including RESTful or microservices architectures.
- Familiarity with version control processes using Git and collaborative workflows.
- Exposure to AI technologies, particularly large language models and agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph.
- Knowledge of AI concepts including prompt engineering, structured output generation, RAG architectures, and vector databases like FAISS or Pinecone.
- Experience or awareness of cloud platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure, as well as containerization (Docker) and CI/CD automation tools.
- Understanding of MLOps practices and deployment in regulated or financial technology environments is advantageous.
