Machine Learning Engineer

Role overview

This contract opportunity is for a technically strong Machine Learning Engineer to contribute to the training of advanced AI models. The work is centered on creating structured examples that help large language models learn how to reason, plan, use tools, and make sound decisions in practical situations.

Rather than building model code, you will support model training by producing high-quality reasoning data that shows how an expert would solve complex technical problems. The role is fully remote, flexible, and designed for independent contributors who are comfortable working on their own schedule.

Time commitment: 10 to 40 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Create detailed reasoning traces that explain how an experienced professional would approach and resolve difficult technical tasks.
• Document step-by-step planning, tool usage, and decision-making in a format that can be consistently reproduced.
• Develop training examples that improve an LLM’s ability to reason accurately in real-world scenarios.
• Review AI decision workflows and tighten them for logical flow, consistency, and correctness.
• Work independently and asynchronously without needing day-to-day supervision.

Requirements

• Education or strong background in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a closely related technical area.
• Ability to explain complicated technical and logical reasoning clearly in writing.
• Strong analytical thinking with the ability to spot where a multi-step solution breaks down.
• Careful, structured, and methodical approach to task execution.
• Dependable self-management and comfort working independently.
• Prior exposure to data annotation, labeling, or AI evaluation work is an advantage.
• Familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, or AI training processes is a plus.
• Experience in software engineering, ML research, or technical writing is beneficial.
• Experience creating or assessing AI reasoning pipelines is also valuable.
