Role Summary
This position sits at the core of the company’s mission-critical SaaS platform. The Manager, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering will lead the group responsible for operating the cloud infrastructure that powers Camunda’s SaaS products, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and security.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with production experience running Kubernetes-based, multi-cloud environments and the ability to help others do the same. The role is fully remote and works across time zones, so clarity, execution, and team momentum are essential.
Camunda also expects the leader in this role to use AI regularly in infrastructure work for automation, faster analysis, incident support, and documentation, while applying thoughtful safeguards around its use.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, support, and develop the team responsible for Camunda’s SaaS cloud infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on delivery and a healthy engineering culture.
- Own the design, rollout, and ongoing improvement of Kubernetes-driven, multi-cloud infrastructure with reliability, scalability, and security as non-negotiables.
- Partner with product engineering, security, support, and other engineering leaders so the platform helps teams ship safely and efficiently.
- Advance infrastructure automation, developer tooling, and platform guardrails so the service can grow without unnecessary friction.
- Shape how AI is used as a repeatable part of infrastructure operations, including analysis, automation, incident handling, and documentation.
- Strike the right balance between day-to-day operational stability and long-term investments in multi-cloud growth and new platform capabilities.
Requirements
- Willingness to use Camunda’s product, along with the ability to do so effectively.
- 3 to 5 years of experience managing engineers who build and operate production infrastructure for a SaaS product.
- Strong background in cloud infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, SRE, or a similar area.
- Practical Kubernetes experience in production, including scaling, reliability, and cluster lifecycle management.
- Experience working across more than one major cloud provider and understanding the trade-offs involved in multi-cloud operations.
- A history of partnering with senior engineers and stakeholders to deliver meaningful infrastructure improvements while strengthening reliability, scalability, and security.
- Strong leadership skills, including coaching, performance management, prioritization, and building an environment where engineers can do their best work.
- Clear judgment on where AI adds value in infrastructure engineering and where guardrails are needed for responsible use.
Preferred Experience
- Experience operating global or multi-region SaaS infrastructure.
- Exposure to infrastructure as code, policy as code, and platform automation.
- Experience improving observability, incident management, or reliability in cloud-native systems.
- Experience with cloud cost management, platform guardrails, or related tooling that improves infrastructure decision-making.
