Software Engineer (Full-Stack – JavaScript/TypeScript)

Role overview

We are looking for a full-stack software engineer to join a technology team based in Australia and working entirely remotely. This is a permanent, full-time position suited to an engineer who enjoys creating scalable web products, working across the full development lifecycle, and partnering effectively in agile teams.

The role involves close collaboration with product managers, designers, and engineering colleagues to deliver robust solutions built with current JavaScript and TypeScript technologies. The ideal candidate brings practical experience on both the client and server sides, including interface development, API design, and the upkeep of cloud-hosted applications.

You will also help shape technical decisions, review code, write documentation, and support ongoing improvements to engineering practices. Clear communication and strong teamwork are important in this remote-first setup. This position offers the chance to influence product direction, contribute to an effective engineering culture, and work flexibly from anywhere in Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Create, test, improve, and support web applications that can scale reliably.
• Develop polished and responsive user interfaces with modern JavaScript and TypeScript frameworks.
• Design and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders in an agile delivery process.
• Take part in code reviews and technical architecture conversations.
• Identify, investigate, and fix application performance concerns.
• Support CI/CD workflows and deployment activities.
• Prepare technical documentation and help maintain coding best practices.

Required experience and skills

• At least 4 years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Experience with React, Next.js, Angular, or comparable front-end frameworks.
• Backend development experience with Node.js.
• Exposure to both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Prior experience in agile software teams.
• Strong communication and collaboration ability in remote settings.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience building with GraphQL.
• Familiarity with microservices-based systems.
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience guiding or mentoring junior developers.
