About the opportunity

Stena Line is offering a sea-based apprenticeship for aspiring deck trainees who want to build a career in maritime operations. The programme is designed to combine practical shipboard experience with structured learning, giving you exposure to real ferry operations while you develop the knowledge and confidence needed for the industry.

This apprenticeship is part of a Skills Development Program delivered under an Apprenticeship Agreement. It brings together workplace training and classroom study so you can develop technical know-how, practical ability, and the interpersonal skills required in a maritime environment.

The apprenticeship is scheduled to start on 21 September 2026.

Requirements

To be considered, you must meet the following conditions:

• You must be 18 years old at the time you submit your application.
• You must have the legal right to work in the UK and be resident in the UK.
• You should be able to communicate clearly and effectively in both spoken and written English.

Before training begins

Prior to starting onboard training on the ferry, apprentices will need to complete Basic STCW training and obtain an unrestricted ENG1 medical certificate.
