You will manage a distributed group of Python engineers working on infrastructure automation products that support large-scale environments including private clouds, Kubernetes, and bare-metal systems. The position blends hands-on technical contribution with people leadership, so you will be expected to shape architecture, raise engineering standards, and support the growth of each team member.

In this role, you will work closely with operations and other stakeholders to turn real infrastructure problems into scalable, model-driven solutions. It is a high-impact position with influence over product direction, team culture, and customer outcomes. Key responsibilities

• Guide, coach, and develop a distributed Python engineering team while supporting strong performance and career progression.
• Oversee the creation and release of infrastructure automation and software solutions for large-scale cloud and bare-metal platforms.
• Remain hands-on with code while also providing technical direction and maintaining strong engineering standards.
• Set goals for the team, plan the work, and monitor progress so delivery stays aligned with wider business priorities.
• Work with product, operations, and engineering partners to determine technical direction and delivery sequencing.
• Promote an engineering culture that values thorough testing, clear documentation, reliable systems, and strong performance.
• Encourage modern development practices, agile ways of working, and a mindset of ongoing improvement.
• Serve as a communication bridge across teams and stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment both internally and externally.

Required background

• Demonstrated success managing and mentoring software engineers, preferably in a remote-first or distributed environment.
• Strong practical experience in Python development and software engineering.
• Good knowledge of cloud computing and current infrastructure platforms such as OpenStack and Kubernetes.
• Experience administering Linux systems, with working knowledge of storage, networking, and system operations.
• Solid foundation in software design, testing, and building scalable architectures.
• Ability to combine technical depth with team leadership, coaching, and organizational alignment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience delivering complex projects in agile environments.
• Ownership-driven approach with strong problem-solving ability and a focus on continuous improvement.
• Helpful extras include infrastructure-as-code, multi-cloud exposure, or Go development experience.
