Role overview
This position is central to the program that will establish and bring into operation the new Woodford Youth Detention Centre. It is a high-impact opportunity to support a major initiative focused on readiness, launch, and ongoing operational success.
The Program Manager handles day-to-day program coordination and oversight for a complex, non-ICT portfolio made up of organisational, workforce, cultural, and operational activities. In partnership with the Program Director and workstream leads, the role keeps planning, governance, reporting, risk/issues/dependencies management, and cross-stream coordination tightly aligned so the centre can be operationally ready.
In addition to supporting the immediate program, the role contributes ideas and delivery improvements that may help strengthen operations across the wider youth detention network.
Key accountabilities
- Coordinate and oversee delivery across a broad non-ICT program with many connected workstreams and initiatives.
- Maintain integrated schedules, manage interdependencies, and keep delivery sequencing on track across roughly 25 concurrent initiatives.
- Support governance, reporting, and RAID management to provide clear visibility of program status, risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Work closely with the Program Director and stream leads to monitor progress, resolve operational challenges, and keep delivery aligned to readiness milestones.
- Prepare evidence-based advice on delivery confidence, risk, timing, readiness, and practical implementation impacts for senior leaders and governance bodies.
- Use strong analytical and problem-solving capability to maintain momentum in a changing environment.
- Identify opportunities to improve governance, integration, and delivery approaches that could benefit future initiatives and broader network operations.
Additional information
This role sits within a complex and evolving environment and offers the chance to contribute directly to the creation of a new operational setting, workforce culture, and coordinated ways of working.
Applications will stay active for 12 months.
