Financial Controller

Overview

An established, mission-led organisation based in Bray, County Wicklow is hiring a Financial Controller to join its leadership team. This newly created position is suited to a finance professional who wants a broad commercial remit in an SME setting, where their input can directly shape business decisions. The role reports to the CEO and the Board and combines strategic partnership with hands-on ownership of day-to-day finance operations.

Key Duties

• Take charge of the finance department and supervise one team member.
• Produce monthly management accounts and material for board-level reporting.
• Own the budgeting process, forecasting cycle, and cash flow oversight.
• Provide financial planning support and commercial analysis to guide decisions.
• Oversee audit activity, compliance requirements, and internal financial controls.
• Contribute financial insight that helps senior leaders make informed choices.
• Spot opportunities to improve processes and strengthen finance operations.

Candidate Profile

• Professionally qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CIMA credentials.
• Previous background working as a Financial Controller or Finance Manager.
• Proven capability in management reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders at different levels.
• Comfortable being fully involved in a hands-on SME environment.
• Experience in retail, wholesale, distribution, or e-commerce would be particularly beneficial.
