Packaging Process Operator

Role overview

This position is responsible for running packaging equipment, keeping the production flow efficient, and supporting consistent product quality. The role combines machine operation, fault-finding, routine administrative work, and participation in improvement activities. Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a safe, healthy workplace at all times.
• Put production schedules into action while keeping the process running efficiently.
• Run manual and automated packaging equipment according to the required standards.
• Watch production performance closely and step in when results start to drift.
• Support strong quality and output levels throughout the packaging process.
• Collect production information, monitor trends, and complete required reports.
• Keep workstation and team-room records organised and up to date.
• Take part in self-learning and capability-building activities.
• Review process data to spot waste, delays, or other inefficiencies.
• Use structured problem-solving tools such as QFRs and 5 Whys to address issues.
• Work with colleagues to improve machine performance and communicate observations.
• Carry out autonomous maintenance to help equipment operate smoothly.
• Own machine performance and apply preventive actions to avoid repeat issues.

Requirements

• A diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field is required.
• Practical experience with operating and maintaining packaging machinery is needed.
• Applicants should have completed 9 months of on-the-job training and finished SKAP.
• SKAP must have been completed within the last 12 months.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability is essential.
• Comfort working in a busy, high-energy production environment is important.
• A solid commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement is expected.
• Ability to work with VPO tools and keep them updated is required.
• Experience with problem-solving methods and minor maintenance work is needed.
