Role overview

This opportunity is based at Lake Eacham in the Atherton Tablelands, offering a workplace surrounded by rainforest, fresh air and wildlife. It suits someone who wants meaningful work in a natural setting and values a quieter community lifestyle in Far North Queensland.

What the role involves

You will contribute to restoration activities across the Tablelands, with a focus on collecting native plant material, propagating vegetation and planting to support the protection and improvement of Queensland’s environment. The work also includes entering and recording data, preparing sites, helping with nursery upkeep and coordinating with volunteer groups to achieve practical outcomes on the ground.

In addition, you will take on general ranger responsibilities such as looking after infrastructure, controlling pests and weeds, assisting with fire and emergency response tasks, and helping plan and deliver projects.

Work environment

The position offers a mix of independent work and teamwork within a small, supportive group. It is a hands-on role that requires someone who can adapt to outdoor conditions and remain physically capable while working across changing environments.
