Composite Estimation Engineer

Role overview

This position focuses on estimating the manufacturing effort and input needs for composite-material products. The role involves reviewing drawings and CAD models, determining material and infrastructure requirements, and supporting planning for different production stages.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare cost and resource estimates for manufacturing composite products.
• Study CAD models or drawings to identify the materials needed for production.
• Use CAD tools such as NX and CATIA as part of the estimation workflow.
• Assess manufacturing needs related to composites, including tooling, testing, and quality expectations.
• Evaluate infrastructure needs for production setup, including space planning and manufacturing flow.
• Coordinate with material suppliers, tooling vendors, internal manufacturing teams, external vendors, testing laboratories, and quality teams.
• Support estimation activities for prototypes, limited-volume runs, and serial production.

Required knowledge

• Strong understanding of composite materials and their manufacturing requirements.
• Familiarity with composite manufacturing processes and associated tooling.
• Ability to interpret CAD drawings and design data for estimation purposes.
• Knowledge of testing and quality requirements in composite manufacturing.
• Exposure to production planning, infrastructure assessment, and workflow design.
• Comfort working with multiple stakeholders across suppliers, vendors, quality, and manufacturing functions.
